No Surprises Act (NSA),
effective January 2022
The NSA was signed into law in December 2020 and was primarily intended to protect patients/clients from unexpected out-of-network bills for healthcare. This law has a “notice” requirement regarding your right to get an oral and written good faith estimate of the cost of your healthcare. A copy will also be provided to you, should you decide to utilize the services of Holistic Purpose, PLLC.
Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have
insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical
items and services.
• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total
expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This ordinarily includes
related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and
hospital fees. Please be mindful of the fact that Dr. Wilson is not a Psychiatrist and therefore does not prescribe/recommend medication, nor does she recommend equipment. Hospital fees may differ, depending on your insurance. In the event of an emergency wherein hospitalization is recommended, Dr. Wilson will make every good faith effort to provide information about potential fees.
• You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate
in writing at least 1 business day before receiving the agreed-upon service.
You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you
choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or
service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith
Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
